Abstract :
An application of the MaMiC programming environment (a programming environment for handling both numeric and symbolic data) is described. The application is an intelligent interface to MathWorks´ System Identification Toolbox. The interface contains two parts: one that makes it easier to use the System Identification Toolbox (by simplifying the syntax and by bookkeeping of all variables used in the system), and one that gives the user advice during an identification session. A decision support system which advises the user only about the interpretation of certain results and how to do reasonable commands, actions, etc. is described and illustrated by an example
