Abstract :
Force group classification is a key component of situation assessment. In the paper, a template-based method is proposed to recognize force group in the battlefield. First, the corresponding templates are constructed to represent each level group according to the hierarchy for force group. Then, the template-matching algorithm is given in order to match the group with templates. In this paper, the nearest-neighbor clustering algorithm is employed to merge targets into groups by position and direction. Based on the aggregation result, the aggregated group type is recognized using template-based method according to the group attribute. Finally, a simple application of the method is described. The results show that the method is available
