Abstract :
The present report aims at showing the effectiveness of the geographic information system (GIS) techniques for enhancing the coastal fisheries. The acoustic information from scanning sonar was adopted to visualize the distribution of fish schools and quantify their behavior. To collect the information of the fish schools on a real-time basis with a high economic/effort efficiency, the 3D view was developed using GIS spatial analysis techniques. The combined use of information from the GIS spatial analysis and acoustic method has provided a significant step in determining the real features of fish schools in the water
