Abstract
A custom imaging array has been optimized for diffuse reflectance spectroscopy for breast cancer margin assessment. The imaging array has been designed, fabricated and tested with a 99% diffuse reflectance standard, a 2% diffuse reflectance standard, bovine muscle tissue, and poultry tissue. Estimated signal-to-noise ratios of greater than 35 dB have been measured with all four specimens. Reflectance contrast image maps have been extracted from the diffuse reflectance signals for the poultry tissue and correlate well with the tissue sample.
