Abstract :
This paper presents a novel approach for fault analysis of the power system considering thyristor controlled series compensator (TCSC) using traveling waves. Stationary wavelet transform (SWT) is adopted in the traveling wave protection. The effect of power swing, noise, high ground fault resistance, close-up faults, CT saturation and different fault types are considered in the paper. Transient simulations to verify the mentioned approach is carried out with PSCAD/EMTDC program.
