Abstract :
Edge detection is an important aspect of image processing. There are different methods for improving edge detection. This paper proposes a fuzzy-based approach for edge detection. The fuzzy inference rules are defined in such a way that the fuzzy inference system (FIS) output is high only for those pixels belonging to edges in the input image. A robustness to contrast and lighting variations are also taken into account while instituting these rules. In this paper, we have proposed an approach that combines the Canny method with fuzzy inference system for determining edges of an image.
