  • Abstract
A reduced complexity adaptive maximum likelihood sequence estimation (MLSE) receiver is proposed. A tentative decision (per-survivor processing) MLSE receiver is considered. Novelty of the proposed algorithm is the reduced computational complexity, which is totally independent of the channel impulse response length. In contrast, the computational complexity of the standard MLSE with Viterbi algorithm and PSP-MLSE is exponentially increases as the length of the channel impulse response increases. For a model channel impulse response of length three symbol spaced taps, proposed algorithm reduces 75% of the computational complexity of MLSE. This reduction percentage increases as the channel impulse response increases
