Abstract :
It is often observed in high power microwave amplifiers that the gain increases gradually in a linear region. We call it the gain expansion phenomenon. This phenomenon is explained theoretically, on the assumption that the channel temperature drop causes the gain expansion. It is also described that the gain expansion characteristics of multi-stage amplifiers can be compensated by optimizing the operating bias condition of the driver stage amplifiers by simulation
