Abstract :
As the increasing applications of streaming media, using the streaming media server to provide high-quality video service for people becomes a serious problem to solve. By analyzing the basic concepts and relevant protocols of Darwin Streaming Server (referred to as DSS), combined with the China Telecom`s requirements of IPTV (shorted for Internet Protocol Television), this paper implements a method to improve DSS`s performance through splitting the original media file. This method meets the demand of no mosaic, no beating and no stagnation sense during broadcasting files. In addition, the results from comparative tests show that the quality of video is improved significantly after using this method.
