Abstract :
In this paper, an integrated approach to achieving a radiolocation function in a wireless digital cellular network is introduced, through using time difference of arrival (TDOA) estimation between multiple base stations. We construct a set of nonlinear hyperbolic position location equations. The Taylor-series expansion is utilized to simplify these equations. We are able to get the their solutions by an iterative method which is suitable for realization in a DSP system. A new type of procedure to implement radio-location by the use of the reverse link is proposed; this provides a foundation for designing a new protocol for this special application in the digital cellular network in the future
