Abstract
With the introduction of a pair of generalized attenuation coefficients, a novel algorithm for counter-pumped fiber Raman amplifier (FRA) is derived for unequal signal and pump loss coefficients, leading to a significant increase in the iterative step size under saturated amplification. The simulation results agree well with experimental data. This method is also effective in the numerical simulation of stimulated Raman scattering (RS) in fiber
