Abstract :
Analysis of partial discharge (PD) signal is one of the most effective and commonly used techniques to estimate a condition of the winding insulation of generators and requires highly precise analysis. To satisfy this requirement, various noise suppressing methods have been proposed and developed to eliminate external noises those were measured with PD signals. However, some external noises those cannot be removed by conventional noise suppressing methods have been come out and decreased the reliability of the analysis of PD signals. In this paper, therefore, we propose a synthetic noise suppressing algorithm for removing the external noises using their properties. The proposed algorithm shows good performance in the real PD signals measured from a hydro-generator in Korea.
