Abstract :
The nuclear electric utility industry has embarked on an initiative to proactively prevent nuclear power plant events by encouraging the collective application of a plant´s organization, leadership and front-line workforce to methodically prevent error-likely situations. The mission of the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) is to promote the highest levels of safety and reliability-to promote excellence-in the operation of nuclear electricity generating plants. This paper discusses human performance in the nuclear industry, explains a proactive framework for error prevention and describes INPO activities to promote a more proactive approach in the prevention of nuclear power plant events due to human error
