Abstract :
It is well known that the capacity of code-division multiple-access (CDMA) systems degrades rapidly with the increase in power control error. The capacity is also affected by small-scale fading such as Rayleigh fading and by the voice activity. We analyze the outage probability of the uplink of a CDMA system. Closed form approximations are provided for two different definitions of the outage encountered in the literature. These expressions provide a simple tool to analyze the system performance as function of diversity, fading, power control error, and voice activity
