Abstract
The present study was undertaken to define the usefulness of a laparoscope manipulator-EndoSista-in laparoscopic surgery. Safety critical design was paramount and it had to be `nurse and surgeon friendly´. Future ideas for instrument control, telepresence surgery, simulators and remote surgery now seem possible
