Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to provide an update on recent developments of fluid-filled distribution transformers that combine advanced materials like amorphous core, high temperature solid insulation, and alternative fluids with improved environmental impact. An example of a transformer integrating those materials will be described. Aging studies to understand relative behavior of a particular high temperature solid insulating material in various alternative fluids have been conducted to understand influence of parameters like air or temperature. Tensile properties have been measured on aged samples to understand compatibility between solid insulation and fluids.
