Abstract :
This paper deals with a demonstrator which has been developed at THOMSON-CSF/LER in cooperation with French car manufacturers (RENAULT and PSA Research Divisions) during the PROMETHEUS Programme. The vehicle is equipped with a video camera and image processing and visualization hardware. This system has been realized to demonstrate the important role that can be played by electronics, image and information processing to improve security in the vehicle traffic domain.
