Abstract :
There is a demanding need for manufacturers to reduce the escape rate on inspection of golf balls. Vision-based inspection is then proposed to fulfill this need. This paper presents a preliminary work on the development of a visual inspection system for golf logos. This preliminary work includes the development of a vision-based mechanism to control the orientation of golf logos for automatic inspection. Included in this work is also the development of a logo matching method, which emphasizes the importance of using the size, shape, topology, and spatial relations of logo contours. Detailed description of the proposed logo matching method is given. Illustrative examples are included to demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method.
