Abstract :
A DC motor based brake-by-wire system is studied for the purpose of fault diagnostics of its power electronic switches. The voltages and currents generated in the switching circuit under normal and faulted conditions are fed to a fuzzy algorithm to detect the particular solid state power switch which is faulty, and the moment of the occurrence of the fault. The algorithm can be easily implemented using an inexpensive processor for on-board diagnostics applications.
