Abstract
The probabilistic behavior of a finite state machine (FSM) can be studied by regarding its transition structure as a Markov chain. Then any stochastic property of a FSM can be considered as such of the underlying Markov chain model. These stochastic estimations can then be successfully applied for solving various problems in the field of low-power logic synthesis. The developed software tool automatizes routine calculations and provides means for investigation of FSMs on behavioral level using stochastic analysis targeting low power state assignment problem. The program requires the Java runtime environment and, thus, can be executed on every software platform, for which Java technology is available. Furthermore, Java provides capabilities to run the program (applet) inside standard browsers, so most of the environment can be accessed over the Internet.
