Abstract :
When we make an image to present a visualization result of fluid simulation, we generally insert an elaborate model in the image to assist the audience´s understanding. However, a data conversion issue emerges when visualization software loads CAD data or CG data. To solve this issue, we have developed the OpenGL fusion technique. The technique enables two or more models generated by OpenGL programs to be displayed in a single window. A system using the technique was first developed for a single computer: here, we have extended it to work over a computer network. The networked system enables the models generated on distributed computers to be displayed in a window on another computer or on a set of tiled displays consisting of multi-computers. This paper describes the enhancement and a benchmark result of the enhanced system. Distributed computing allows the system to perform faster. This paper also presents innovative uses of the system. Network OpenGL Fusion facilitates the developments of a fully visualized problem-solving environment by assembling multiple kinds of legacy application programs running across the network.
