Abstract
This paper deals with the design of permanent magnet motors with intrinsic fault-tolerant capability. Redundant solutions and innovative motor figures are presented. Considerations on motor operations in presence of fault are also reported. Three-phase short-circuit maximum short-circuit currents and braking torque are investigated. Finally, hints to be used in the design of the motor are given
