Abstract :
This paper presents a comparative analysis of two control techniques applied to forced commutated cycloconverters, such as PWM and hysteresis band control. The analysis is methodically performed, providing a brief description of the state of the arts regarding the topic, reviewing general concepts pertaining to each of the techniques, analyzing their performance with regards to the typical disturbances in power systems, namely comparing their distortion levels and response time. Their behavior under passive load (R-L) is examined thoroughly and the conclusions are presented by means of computer simulations
