Abstract :
Fault-tolerant flux-switching permanent magnet (FT-FSPM) motor is a new class of stator-PM brushless motors, a potential candidate for many applications where reliability and power density are of importance. In this paper, a new method is proposed for torque ripple minimization, in which the key is to introduce harmonic currents to compensate for non-ideal sinusoidal back-EMF. Moreover, a fault-tolerant control strategy is investigated, in which the effect of harmonic back-EMF is considered. Both simulation and experimental results confirm that the proposed control algorithms can reduce torque ripple under open-circuit fault conditions.
