  • Abstract
    The development is reported of a high-performance 3 kVA uninterruptible power supply (UPS) which employs a high-frequency, high power factor rectifier called a switch-mode rectifier (SMR) in the rectifier section and a high-frequency multi-PWM type inverter in the inverter section. This has brought about such excellent characteristics as compact and lightweight design, fast response, high efficiency, and high power factor. The authors describe the main circuitry control methods for starting, stopping, and steady-state SMR operation and the test results of the UPS.<>
