Abstract
The development of 3rd generation mobile systems such as UMTS and IMT-2000 should be enable the support a wide range of mobile multimedia services for users whilst on the move. To achieve this objective it is necessary to provide a set of flexible transport and control capabilities which service providers can use and adapt to support a wide range of mobile multimedia applications. The target is to extend the flexible capabilities of ATM and IP networks and services to mobile users. Control requirements of future mobile systems are considered for the support of mobile multimedia services
