    Summary form only given. Several neural network applications solving practical problems in communications have been considered. These solutions demonstrate that the generalization abstraction, adaptation, and learning capabilities of neural networks provide a good alternative to conventional methods. Applications in network control, call control, and switching network control areas were discussed. One of the applications also shows that the use of neural networks in combination with expert systems makes it possible to utilize the best attributes of both techniques
