  • Abstract
The single-phase induction motor, in permanent split capacitor topology, is used in some models of washing machines. This configuration presents limitations on the motor drive and system energy efficiency. This paper presents the implementation of the field-oriented control to drive the washing machine in order to provide benefits in improving the energy efficiency and the motor drive. The results obtained from the experimental setup showed good advantages in the dynamic response and the system efficiency compared to the traditional configuration, while impacting the final cost.
