Abstract :
This paper presents the conditions under which induction motors can be used interchangeably on 50 Hertz and 60 Hertz supply frequencies. Experimental results of a motor that was tested at both supply frequencies, using different criteria, is used to discuss the conditions. The criteria used for the testing include field-weakening, constant-flux, constant-slip and rated voltage. The energy efficiency performance varies according to the criteria used.
