Abstract
Most existing clustering algorithms are suitable for homogeneous wireless sensor networks, but in practice there exists more heterogeneous scenarios. In this paper, a Virtual Area Partition Clustering protocol with Assistant Cluster Head (VAPC-ACH) is proposed for homogeneous and heterogeneous wireless sensor networks. The simulation results show that VAP-ACH can reduce and balance energy dissipation, thus prolong the sensor network lifetime and improve the system performance.
