  • Abstract
Algorithms based on gradient using wavelet transform for image fusion only consider high-frequency information changes of the images, and to some extent neglect the richness of high-frequency information. To solve this problem, a new kind of image fusion algorithm based on gradient and energy is proposed. The algorithm takes into account the changes in high-frequency information and the richness of high-frequency information, effectively guarantees the richness of image information. When the high-frequency coefficients of the two images change significantly in one region, we use gradient for decision-making in the region. When the high-frequency coefficients of the two images do not change significantly in the region, we use energy of the high-frequency for decision-making in the region. In addition the method which uses local statistics to select a single point is proposed which is more flexible and better in reflecting the characteristics of the image information than the tradition regional fusion.
