Abstract
Wave run-up on a vertical wall in a linearly inclined bay of a parabolic cross-section is studied in the framework of shallow water theory with an assumption of wave propagation without dissipation and without water penetration through the bottom. Such situation can be directly applied to any kind of long wave, including tsunamis and sea waves induced by high-speed ferries, which regularly occur in Tallinn Bay, Baltic Sea. The wave run-up height at the vertical wall is studied with respect to different parameters: the frequency (period) of the incoming wave field and the location (the depth and the distance from the coast) of the vertical wall.
