Abstract
In this paper we consider the problem of using turbo codes in audio watermark detection, from the communications point of view. We present an audio watermarking system as a conventional but specific communication scheme, characterized by a non-stationary, near impulsive noise channel with a very low Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR). We point out how it is essential for channel decoding to reliably estimate the noise parameters in order to obtain optimal performances. To judge the relevance of the contributions and the limitations of turbo codes in audio watermark detection, the capacity of a parametrized Generalized Gaussian Noise -especially near-impulsive noise channel- will be determined. Finally the contribution of turbo codes in the presence of this kind of noise will be exposed.
