Abstract :
Fires and explosions have been attributed to electrostatic discharges in the explosives industry and in some hazardous industrial situations. Strict statutory guidelines often apply, but the phenomenon is often not well understood in many industrial installations. This paper outlines the basic causes of hazardous ESD and proposes corrective action.
