Abstract
Recently, 160 to 640 Gbit/s/port colored optical packet switch prototypes are demonstrated. Arrayed burst-mode Tx./Rx., all-optical multiple label processor, high-speed polarization independent optical switch, optical buffer with FDL, parallel and pipelined buffer manager, and burst-mode EDFA are introduced as key technologies. Effects of polarization rotation due to the field transmission on the wideband optical spectra are shown. 1.28 Tbit/s/port ultra-wideband optical packet switching with high-speed polarization independent optical switches is also demonstrated. In addition, 640 Gbit/s throughput granularity flexible, 3 node optical network using packet selective ROADM prototypes are also demonstrated.
