Supplier development has become a key element in maintaining a company´s success in the automotive industry due to technological and competitive pressures. This paper explores how Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Co., Ltd. (DPCA) implements supplier development to achieve its strategic goals. Its development practices involves integrating the supplier development strategy with the overall strategy, setting strict criteria for supplier development, facilitating learning and knowledge transfer through supplier development, carrying out green suppler development program. It is concluded that DPCA´s supplier development is closely integrated with its sustainable strategy. This paper contributes to supply chain management (SCM), especially in the field of buyer-supplier relationship from the perspective of China´s automotive industry.
