Abstract
Microfiber waveguide, microfiber loop resonator, and microfiber coil resonator are the basic elements of microfiber photonics. The interest in photonic devices fabricated of microfibers is caused by their small transmission losses and potential ability of micro-assemblage in 3D. Recent progress in theory, fabrication, and application of optical microfibers and microfiber resonators is reviewed.
