  • Abstract
Modern HF radio communication requires operational simplicity and high reliability. However, continually changing ionospheric conditions make operations difficult, even by an experienced operator. The advent of adaptive technology has allowed systematic and automatic real-time evaluation of HF paths, and automatic link establishment. The Harris RF-7110 autolink adaptive controller is an example of state-of-the-art adaptive equipment, combining automatic link establishment and automatic link quality analysis (LQA). The authors show the autolink paired with the RT-1446/URC 100 watt transceiver, forming the RF-7100-04 adaptive communication system. Significant research and development has been completed which will enhance the next generation of the autolink controller by including 8-ary FSK (frequency shift keying) signaling and advanced link quality analysis (ALQA) techniques.<>
