Abstract
By making use of a sophisticated method of moments coded the performance of two published travelling wave wire antennas was analysed. An improved antenna, based on those concepts, was developed and considerable insight was gained into the criteria governing the operation of such antennas. Finally, a graphical technique was presented for the analysis and design of feedpoint-loaded antennas. This procedure enables optimum performance to be obtained from a clearly compromised antenna.<>
