Abstract
While it is accepted that there are a number of computer programs available which claim to design low voltage electrical circuits to comply with the 15th Edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations, in using one, an engineer is relying upon the integrity and accuracy of its compiler. He is also limited to the ground covered by the program and its particular approach. Today we are in a situation where many professional electrical engineers have their own microcomputer with disc drives for fast retrieval of data and means of printing and/or displaying the output. This has become the logical follow-on from logarithms, slide rules and calculators. By virtue of their education and training, these engineers are capable of making use of this very versatile tool and the authors attempt to indicate how it can be used to their advantage
