Abstract
A method is presented for designing a planar first-order swept-field ion mobility spectrometer for use in volatile anesthetic agent monitoring. The method is described in theoretical detail and illustrated with computer simulations. The results suggest this method is an attractive alternative for ion mobility gas analysis applications.
