Abstract
The authors make a comparison between frequency sharing situations relating to down links of satellites in the GSO and in elliptical orbits, namely Molniya and Tundra, serving land mobile satellite service (LMSS). For the purpose of the analysis the Western European region was selected as the coverage zone. The coverage consists of 2° beams from the satellites. The question of sharing with another terrestrial service, such as the terrestrial radio relay systems, within and outside the service area of interest is also discussed
