Abstract :
The patterns of the UWB antenna are important in pulse-based UWB communication system. The relation between the antenna radiation patterns with the frequency of the UWB antenna is less studied today. The frequency dependency of the typical UWB antenna radiation patterns are simulated and measured in this paper. The patterns´ frequency dependency is related to the current edge effect in the UWB antenna. The current distribution is extracted and modeled as hyperbolic function, which can result in the patterns fluctuating.
