Abstract :
The authors consider the options available when refurbishment of hydro plant is required. Two examples of refurbishment of hydro generator plant are described which cover two different approaches for plant refurbishment. These are the partial or complete re-planting. An example of complete re-planting of a 51.5 MW hydro generator by Ontario Hydro is described, and the partial refurbishment of a 90 MW pump storage generator-motor by the CEGB considered
