Abstract
One of the basic operations of miniature assay devices is the separation of blood and blood components in microchannels. In this study we investigated and developed a microfluidic chip with microchannel bend structures, which are used as a novel separation technique ideally combining micro and macro world specific separation processes. Experimental measurements of separation efficiency with human whole blood were done on prototype polymer chips. The results show that this technique is an alternative to existing micro blood separation processes.
