Load shedding scheme of the Jordanian national power system

Since 1977, underfrequency relays have been used in the Jordan Electricity Authority (JEA) power system to disconnect a predetermined portion of load when the frequency falls due to loss of generation. More recently rate-of-change frequency sensitive relays and undervoltage relays have been used to complete the load shedding scheme. The authors describe this load shedding scheme which aims at preventing a cascade trip of the system generating units and avoid a total system collapse
