Abstract
This paper refers, mainly, to the problem of the current harmonics of PM synchronous generator, due to the electric conversion system rectifier, interfacing the generator and the grid, present in the structure of the variable speed windgenerators. The problem was experimentally studied on “Politehnica” University from Timisoara (UPT) laboratory test rig, based on the PM synchronous generator — “ac — ac frequency converter” — grid/consumer, of FORTIS Passaat of 1.5 kW horizontal axis windgenerator. The paper presents experimental results and conclusions regarding the generator characteristics, harmonic analysis of winding current, and their rejection / reduction methods.
