The usefulness and functionality of microformats in a particular eLearning system

Microformats are small standards used to make big steps towards the internet of the future — the Semantic Web. Three microformats (hCard, hCalendar and hAudio) have been implemented into the educational portal used by the Distance Learning Center´s students from “Politehnica” University of Timisoara. This paper presents different methods used to test the viability of this experiment in a particular learning context (technical university, distance learning students, the students background and so on).
