Abstract
The versatile usages of smart cards with embedded display present a rigorous need in manufacturability and reliability. To increase the reliability and decrease the final cost, the work calls for co-design of the whole system which means that engineers have to consider the packaging scheme at the earliest stage of prototyping. Furthermore, the requirement of Chinese character based display requires a lot of advanced packaging method: fine pitches, bare chip assembly on flexible substrates, temperature tolerance of components and low processing temperature, etc. Besides, energy consumption is another important factor. A power control method was designed to minimize the unnecessary power consumption for this innovative card technology
