Abstract
We present a predictive channel reservation scheme based on extrapolating the movement of mobile stations using GPS measurements. The scheme is applicable to both fixed and dynamic channel allocation methods. Simulation results showed that the predictive scheme improves the blocking rates for handoff requests while not significantly reducing the admission rate of new calls. The paper presents the basic idea and important parameters used in the scheme along with simulation results under various traffic conditions and general type of mobility
